Catching Up

Life is Good!

After eating an entire birthday cake, Cole Bennett is finally potty trained!!  It really just took a week of sitting in bathroom all day.  Totally worth it!  Brent & I took him to Toys R Us and told him he could buy whatever he wanted since we were so proud of him!  He walked out of there with only 3 little cars from the movie "Cars."  I guess when you already HAVE everything, its really not that big of a deal to go there anymore.  Christmas was really over the top this year.  He was just so excited that we all went a little overboard!

Our First Fender Bender

Two days ago, Cole and I were running errands with my mom when another car changed lanes without looking and smashed right into us!  Luckily we saw it coming and mom tried to avoid her so it really wasn't that bad, but I was afraid that it would scare Cole.  Nope!  He couldn't wait for the police to get there!!  He was so disappointed when the state police showed up in a Tahoe instead of a police car, or better yet a motorcycle:(

Monster Truck Show

The first of many "boy" things that I am going to do for Cole Bennett!!  He saw this commercial on TV last week for the monster truck show in Gonzales and immediately said he wanted to go.  He is obsessed with cars and this was a small show that was close to home so I thought we could bring him just to see if he would like it.  Well.....he did!!  We did not make it for the whole show because it was getting so late and he was getting tired, but he did bring his monster truck home and take it to bed with him:)


My Update

23 lbs down since surgery!  48 since beginning of this journey!

Birthday Cake

No, it's not any one's birthday around here!  That was the request of the boy who finally went on the potty!  So we woke up and made a pink (yes, his favorite color of the moment) birthday cake. Well, not ten minutes after eating the cake, there was poop in the pants:(  This happened two more times in the same day!  I am defeated, worn down, and exhausted!!  This little boy is smarter than I.  He is watching me waaaay closer than I am watching him.  If the phone rings and I go to answer it, he sneaks off and goes.  If I run to the bathroom, there is his chance.  He even said he was looking for a snack and got me again! 

Today is a new day.  With Brent at work, Cole and I are pretty much spending our day in the bathroom except for eating.  We have colored, played cars, and played in the dark.  Planning on staying in there until IT happens!  I got my eye on him today!  We are stuck like glue!!  Wish me luck!

Potty Problems:(

Well, I looked back and realized that Cole Bennett first used the potty 1 year ago!!!  That may sound great, except for the fact that he is still not completely potty trained:(  I think the first time was a total accident.  He had just turned 2 and was about to get in the tub and the water was running.  Once school got out in May of last year, I was ready!  I got a potty chart with stickers, bought about a million dollars worth of potty prizes, and researched and knew that I had a great potty for boys.

All summer his maw maw and I worked on this and he was sooooo close.  His school said to send him anyway against the rules in the pull ups!!  Here we are still in January in pull ups until yesterday.   Enough was enough.  Him and I had a talk Tuesday night before bed and I told him when he woke up there would be no more pull ups except for night time ones for sleeping.  He agreed so I went with it. 

The first day was nothing short of exhausting!  Thanks to Lauren, Reagan, & Jennifer for your advice and encouragement throughout the day.  Halfway through I thought I would go back to pull ups and y'all all told me definitely NO! 

We've had one accident each day which is not so bad and he seems to be pretty proud of himself.  He still has no interest in pooping in the potty!  I even brought back the small potty thinking he would go in there, but no.  I'll keep working on it!!

Hope this wasn't too much information for you.  This is mostly for him to read one day and hopefully his future wife, for I expect that she will one day have the same trouble that I have been having when they have a baby.  Evidently it is in the genes!!

A Little Lighter...

Well I hit a milestone today and didn't realize it until Brent made me start adding everything up.  These are going to be some embarrassing numbers, but since I will NEVER be here again it can't hurt to put it out there.  I won't give exact figures yet, but they are getting smaller.

I went to visit the surgeon exactly 6 months ago today on July 13.  I have now lost a grand total of 40 pounds since then (17 since surgery and the rest was from before)!!  I have 14 more to go before I really hit my first of many short GOAL weights, but this is a huge start. 

I started today thinking I would buy myself something small to celebrate, but of course, I bought Cole Bennett some clothes instead.  I should continue to lose at a pretty consistent rate and really have so much clothes in every size all the way down to a 10 so I should be good for a while.  I am just going to look very out of style I'm sure.  Its just my form of therapy that I have to go through.  I have to physically be able to wear all of these clothes that I have saved all this time thinking that I am just "a few pounds" from getting back in.  When in reality I was far from wearing them!  So if you see me in "mom jeans" or clearly summer outfits...don't judge me!  Just know that I cleaning out my closet:)

A Little Bit of Everything...

Well I've decided to give this a try to document some of the crazy days with Cole Bennett and some of the changes that I am currently going through as well.

Since Christmas it has been like a Toys R Us explosion in our house that I cannot seem to get in check.  We get up and play like it is Christmas morning everyday!  This had to be the best age to truly enjoy the holidays because Cole was so sad to see the decorations go.  He really wanted it to stay out year round:)   I hope I got enough pictures and video because I don't want to ever forget this time with him!

Two days after Christmas I went through a huge change that I hope will lead to a much healthier lifestyle for all of us.  I had weight loss surgery - the gastric sleeve.  It's been a rough two weeks on a liquid diet, but I am down 15 pounds so that makes it worth it so far.  This week I am adding some pureed foods (which I'm sure sounds gross to you but mouth watering to me)!  I am also starting to think about what I am going to do for exercise soon.  Hope to get back to tennis before long!!!
